Our Hours

Consultations with Eye Clinic for Animals are by appointment only. Please do not turn up unexpectedly at one of our clinics, as Jeff or Cameron may not be able to see you at that time.

Usually either Jeff or Cameron is available at Crows Nest or South Strathfield on Monday – Friday, and some Saturday mornings.

Please call our clinics to find out the times of availability.
Please try to come 20 minutes prior to your appointment as there is usually clerical details which need to be obtained prior to your consultation.

What do we bring to a consultation?

  • A copy of your pet's medical record

  • Radiographs if applicable

  • Current medications

  • Your pet!

Payment for our services

We do not run accounts in Eye Clinic for Animals. It is our strict policy that all fees are payable at the time of consultation, or in the case of surgery at the time of discharge from the hospital. We offer a variety of payment options. Please discuss this with the receptionists prior to consultation. Please also note that revisit fees after surgery are not included in the original consultation.

What we will and will not do

As eye specialists we will not do things that general practitioners ordinarily do such as vaccinate or worm animals, scale teeth under anaesthesia, provide flea treatments etc. This is not our area of expertise. Your local veterinarian has far more experience, and more upto date knowledge on such things that are not related to the eye than we do. There are times when we may even ask you to go back to your referring veterinarian for further tests, as the eyes are often affected by an underlying disease process. Furthermore, we will not recommend a specific general practice to use. We work with all referring veterinarians.

After the consultation, we will usually fax a report or telephone your local veterinarian so that we can all work together on your pet’s case. Sometimes the ongoing care is best achieved by your local veterinarian, and so we try to involve them as much as possible after we see your pet.

How do I contact the ophthalmologist if I have further questions?

Jeff and Cameron can be contacted by phone at either one of our clinics usually. It may not be possible to speak directly to Jeff or Cameron at the time of a phone call to one of our clinics, as they are often in surgery or in consulting with other clients. However, our receptionists or one of our ophthalmology nurses can be very helpful. Please be patient for our response – we do try to return your call within 24 hours. If you think it is urgent then please mention this when you speak to the receptionists.
